Eblouir/oublier is a permanent art installation exposed in the famous Arles photography school ENSP, in the south of France. The artists Raphaël Dallaporta and Pierre Nouvel have imagined a sculpture made of polished mirrors that form the word éblouir (to blind or dazzle). Installed on top of the building’s roof, the letters catch sunlight and reflect it inside the patio. Thanks to their special structure created using the Rayform™ technology, the light rays are redirected to form different letters that spell the word: oublier (to forget).
Depending on the time of the year and of the day, the word forms and deforms, creating a perpetually changing vision. This painting of light and its whimsical word play is a subtle wink to the art of photography, central to this school.
This embodiment of our light-shaping technology is another example of its application to architectural scale projects. Truly multidisciplinary it combines the fields of art, photography, optics, computer-science and craftsmanship.
